What Are Truly Wireless Earbuds?

Truly wireless earbuds are the innovation of the year 2016. They are also called wire-free or cord-free earbuds. Their main characteristic is the absence of wires of any kind. That means they don’t have audio cables, neckbands or headbands. They are inserted in ear canal and connected via Bluetooth to each other and to your device. They come with a small charger that often looks like a small box (which is also their carrying case) and all the necessary controls (play/pause, volume controls, power on/off) are on the earbuds.

These earbuds are relatively new on the market, but they have managed to develop in a very short period of time. When they were first released, they had numerous flaws that needed to be fixed as soon as possible. Back then, they cost a small fortune and you would usually get poor battery life, not so great sound quality and some problems with design. Today, truly wireless earbuds are heading their way to become one of the most popular types of headphones in the modern world. They were originally one of the Apple products, but today we have numerous models for Android devices and their performance and design are definitely improved. In addition, they aren’t as expensive as they were at the beginning. Today, we have both cheap and expensive models of wire-free earbuds and really anybody can afford to buy them.

The price depends on the brand and, of course, on product quality. There are earbuds made by Bose or Sony that are very expensive but also very good, but there are also many affordable models made by less famous companies that offer great quality at reasonable price.

Wire-free earbuds basically have everything that other kinds of earbuds or headphones have. Of course, the number of features depends on the manufacturer and on the price, but if you choose wisely, you can get good sound quality, great fit, and comfort, good mic for answering calls and acceptable battery life. And you don’t even have to sell your kidney to buy one of these.

What Makes Truly Wireless Earbuds So Exceptional?

Once extremely expensive and unusual, truly wireless earbuds are becoming more and more popular. The first generation of these earbuds was not very successful, but that’s normal for any technology that appears for the first time. The next generations were better and more successful, so they are taking their own place on the market and here are some of the characteristics that make them so desirable.

They are small.

Truly wireless earbuds are the smallest headphones on the market and their size has numerous advantages in comparison to large headphones. They come with their charge, which is their carrying case at the same time and you can use it to transport your earbuds in that box. They really don’t occupy much space, they can fit into any bag or backpack, so you can take them with you wherever you go.

Because they are small, they are very light and they can’t put pressure on your head. They won’t hurt the top of your head or heat your ears. They occupy very small surface (your ear canal and front ear) and you might even forget they are in your ears.

They offer you more freedom.

Total absence of cables has some liberating effect on everybody. You can use these earbuds for any activity that you would normally use regular earbuds or headphones. You don’t have to think if they are going to tangle or how to put a long cable in a small pocket. That way you also avoid microphonics that happens when poorly built cables touch your clothes or body.

Wire-free earbuds are great because you can do anything you want in your house or outside without thinking if the cable is long enough or not. You can go as far as you want (if your Bluetooth enabled device is near you or in your pocket), do sports, walk, run or do house chores without annoying cables dangling around.

That gives you the impression that you can go anywhere and do anything, it can even make you believe that you don’t have earbuds as it leaves you alone with your music.

They are affordable.

As you will see from our list of 15 best truly wireless earbuds, these gadgets don’t have to be very expensive to offer good performance. There are many products that will deliver great sound and build quality as well as decent battery life at affordable price.

They are stylish and modern.

Truly wireless earbuds are small and compact. They can never be bulky and make you look like an alien. They often have elegant or sports design and you can take them anywhere without being ashamed. Most of them are available in black color, but some companies were so thoughtful to make their earbuds in at least two or three different and modern colors.

They are perfect for people who wear glasses.

Comfort level is usually arguable because all of us have their own opinion if something is comfortable or not. However, if you wear glasses, there is only one perfect solution – truly wireless earbuds. If you buy a pair of these, you will definitely forget about sore ears, bruises, pain, and pressure. These earbuds don’t have cables or headbands, so there’s nothing that could hurt your ears by squeezing them and pressing the glasses even more to your head.

The List of 15 Best Truly Wireless Earbuds In 2018

Parihy PA01 Revolutionary Bluetooth 4.2 True Wireless Earbuds

Buy Now at Amazon.com

Parihy PA01 are truly wireless earbuds that are very popular on Amazon, although the name of the company isn’t well-known as some others are.

They come in all-black version; they are very small and extremely light, which makes them so comfortable that you wouldn’t even know that they are in your ears (if there were no music, of course). One more reason for their small weight is the material used for their construction. They are all plastic, but they have decent build quality and they won’t fall apart so easily, at least there were no complaints made by customers.

As far as their design is concerned, they are quite appealing and stylish. They are all-black, but they have the nice combination of parts with glossy and matte finish, which makes them look quite elegant. They come with three pairs of ear tips in S, M and L sizes. That way, you can easily find the most suiting size for your ears and the wings that come as the part of the tips should make a lot easier and make the buds stay in your ears no matter what you do.

The earbuds also come with one charging box and one USB charging cable. The cable is connected to the source of power and it has the battery of 900 mAh. It can charge the earbuds 8 times and also be used as a carrying case. The earbuds have 2*55mAh batteries and they offer up to 2.5 h of playback or 4 h of talking time. PA01 support safe charging. In the first 30 minutes, you will get 80% of battery capacity and then you turn on “trickle charging” mode. That way you avoid overcharging that can lead to the earbuds dying faster. In addition, there is charging status indicator on the box that will show current battery status.

They use Bluetooth V4.2 and they have good signal range when the distance without obstacles is concerned, but if you have even the smallest obstacle between the earbuds and the device, be sure that the connection will be lost. Even if the device is right next to you and you cover the buds with your hands or a cap, the connection will drop.

The sound quality is quite decent for this kind of earbuds at this price range and it is also very bassy. They also have built-in mic that works nicely, but besides that and the power button, there are no controls on the buds themselves and you will have to reach out for your phone if you want to adjust the volume. Parihy PA01 use CVC 6.0 passive noise cancellation technology and they do manage to isolate great part of ambient noise, which is quite surprising for truly wireless earbuds.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Attractive design

Secure fit

Very comfortable and lightweight

Good noise isolation technology

Quick pairing

Quick charging

Good sound quality

Drops of connection caused by any obstacle

Poor battery life

The sound quality is satisfying for the price, but you can always improve the experience by finding the most fitting size of the ear tips provided. Besides that, the mic works fine and the build quality is also very good for the price. The earbud weighs approximately 3g, which means it is likely you will forget that you have it in your ear. However, be careful as the earbud is very small and light and you can easily lose it. That’s why we advise you to always leave it in the carrying case no matter how annoying that might be.

Mpow Single Wireless Earbud uses Bluetooth 4.1 with 33ft signal range, but many customers have experienced signal dropouts no matter how close the device is and that’s something that should be improved. The pairing process is very easy and the small LED indicators below the MTF buttons will show you when the buds are paired. They have small batteries that can offer you up to 3 hours of playback/talking time, which is not bad for so small earbuds, but it should be improved anyway. The earbuds use Bluetooth 4.1 with good signal range, so you don’t have to be near your device all the time. Smaller than a coin, as they are advertised, these earbuds are indeed very small and they will not stand out from your ears as some bulky truly wireless earbuds do. They have ergonomic oval shape that really helps them to fit comfortably you ears without that annoying popping out. They might occasionally slide out, but that happens rarely. However, they are quite small, so if you don’t want to lose them, you better wear them in their carrying case when not in use.

F10 are plastic earbuds and, to be honest, they don’t look durable, but they have proven themselves to be quite resistant. On the front side is Focuspower logo, one multifunction button (used to play/pause audio content, answer/end calls and pair the bud with your device) and LED indicator that shows you if the buds are paired or charged.

F10 come in a small orange cardboard box that contains sturdy zippered carrying case. In the case, you will find all the equipment: one earbud, USB charger and three ear tips in different sizes. The bud is connected to the USB charger with the help of a magnet and the charger itself is shaped like a regular USB. You just insert it into your computer or some other source of power and it is all done. When the blue light disappears, you will know that the bud is fully charged. After that, you will be able to use it for up to 8 hours at 30-40% volume or up to 4.5 hours at maximum volume.

When it comes to comfort, we can confirm that the buds are very stable in ear and they don’t make ears sore, even after several hours of use. Sound quality is also quite decent for a pair of cheap earbuds and they are surprisingly loud, which is good if you decide to buy just one earbud. Some customers complain about the lack of bass, but it is really nothing alarming. Everything might sound a bit muffled at the beginning, but you can’t expect perfect clarity from 20-dollar earbuds.

F10 use Bluetooth 4.1 technology with 33ft signal range. The signal is stable, but if there is some obstacle it can’t really reach 33ft; it is more between 10 and 20 feet. There is also the built-in mic that works nicely and the other person will hear you clearly, no matter where you are. They come nicely wrapped in a cardboard box that contains one small plastic box, user manual, USB charging cable and two spare pairs of silicone ear tips in different sizes. The plastic box is actually charging box and the carrying case at the same time. The earbuds are in the box that has 450 mAh battery that can be used to fully charge the earbuds at least 3 times. Once charged, the earbuds offer up to 3 hours of playback/talk time. When the earbuds are charging, the LED indicator will show red light and when they are fully charged, it will turn blue.

316T are plastic earbuds, but they have solid construction, so they won’t fall apart easily, even though they don’t cost much. The charging box is also made from plastic, which is hard and strong, so we advise you to store the earbuds in the box whenever you are not using them, as they are very small and you can easily lose them. The box will protect them from both losing and breaking.

The earbuds don’t sound perfect, but they are quite decent for the price. The sound can get a bit hollow at times and bass should be more powerful, but concerning the price, we were very satisfied. One of the most important things is to find the most fitting size of the tips because that improves sound quality as well as the level of noise reduction. 316T use Bluetooth 4.1 and the signal can be maintained even at 50ft distance without obstacles. When it comes to sound quality, we must say that they have flaws, but they are quite decent concerning the price. They should be louder, considering that only one earbud is used at a time and the sound could be a bit clearer, but nothing alarming really. Smartomi Q5 True Wireless Earbuds

Buy Now at Amazon.com

Smartomi Q5 are budget earbuds that offer decent quality for the price. They come in black and white colors with shiny surface. They actually look more expensive than they really are. The earbuds are small, but if compared to some other models, they do seem a bit bulky in your ear. However, they are pretty small and quite lightweight, so you won’t experience major problems while wearing them.

The earbuds have square shape and they are a bit angled in order to provide better fit. They have Smartomi logo on the top and L and R marks on the bottom. On the front side, you will see buttons with small earphones and led indicators. In order to pair the buds with your device (Android, Apple, etc.) you have to hold both buttons at the same time until they turn purple. After that, you have to find the earbuds on your device and the pairing process is over. The blue light will continue to flash on only one (the main) earbud, which will also be the only one to pick up sound during calls.

Q5 come in a nice cardboard box with all the necessary equipment. Smartomi will send you the earbuds, three spare silicone/rubber ear tips with ear wings in three different sizes, one velour grey carrying bag and one dual USB to micro USB charging cable. The interesting thing is that the earbuds don’t come with charging box as they are charged directly via USB cable. The battery takes 1-2 hours to fully recharge and it offers up to 3.5h of listening/talking.

These earbuds are made from plastic, but they seem quite durable and very strong. The ear tips are very soft and pleasant for wearing even for a few hours. The earbuds feel very stable in ear and they won’t fall out no matter what you do. You can run, work out, dance or just walk and they will stay in your ears thanks to those nice little wings that provide additional support.

When it comes to sound quality, we were very pleased with it. The bass should be maybe stronger, but the sound, in general, was very pleasant and clear, considering the price range. The bigger problem is Bluetooth connection (signal). Q5 use Bluetooth 4.1 technology with up to 33ft signal range. The problem is the signal loss between the buds. For example, when you cover one of them with your hand, signal loss is inevitable. Things like that should be fixed. They also use CVC 6.0 noise reduction technology that isolates great amount of ambient noise.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Attractive earbuds

Good sound quality

Very durable

Very lightweight

Very comfortable and stable

Battery life could be longer

Connection loss issues

Only the mic on the main earbud can be used for talking

There are no volume controls on the buds

The earbuds are a bit bulky

Cshidworld Zero Tone Dual Bluetooth Headphones V4.2 True Mini In-Ear Headset

Buy Now at Amazon.com

Zero Tone are affordable alternative for Apple Airpods that cost much more. Zero Tone are made in China and they offer a lot for that price. They have tried to copy the design of the Apple Airpods, but we must say that they were very unsuccessful. They look thicker than Airpods and they feel loose in the charging box. Truth to be told, we don’t really like the design of the Airpods either, but they are at least thinner and look more elegant, although it is really hard for us to consider those long receivers that stand out from your ears elegant.

Cshidworld Zero Tone come in black and white colors, in a rather simple cardboard box that contains user manual, USB to micro USB charging cable and charging box with the earbuds. The charging box can charge the earbuds 3 times and the box itself is charged via USB cable. If you want to charge the earbuds, you will have to press the button on the bottom of the box and red light will show up. When it turns blue (after approximately 1.5 hours), you will know that the earbuds are fully charged. The box is at the same time very good protective carrying case as the buds are small and light and they might easily get lost.

These earbuds are entirely made from plastic, just like their charging box. However, they seem well built and very durable. The negative part is that the buds don’t have any rubber parts or ear tips. In spite of the low weight, they are a bit uncomfortable because they tend to fall out if you move around a lot, work out or run. It would be different if they had some tips or wings to support them and enable more secure snug.

Zero Tone offer decent sound for 50-dollar earbuds. The sound is slightly distorted and they aren’t very bassy, nor the highs are great, but for the price, they do just fine. They use Bluetooth 4.2 technology with 33ft range and the pairing process is quite simple. You should only know that one of the earbuds has to be the main one and that will be the one that is turned on and paired first with your device. The second one is actually receiving signal from the main one and it is called TWS earbud. They also support CVC 6.0 noise reduction technology that does its job nicely in case you use the earbuds as stereo device.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Bluetooth 4.2

Good noise canceling technology

IPX4 rating (sweatproof)

Can work in stereo or mono mode

Highly compatible with most of Bluetooth enabled devices

Very light and comfortable

Solid build

Strange and clumsy design

Battery life is only average

It occurred in the past that one of the earbuds just stops working for no apparent reason (some previous customers complained about this)

Customers complain about signal cutting in and out

No volume controls on the earbuds

Chin-Best Touch Control True Wireless Earbuds

Buy Now at Amazon.com

Chin-Best HWHP-001 earbuds are relatively affordable truly wireless earbuds that can be used as mono or stereo earbuds. They are relatively small. There are smaller earbuds out there, but these are not too big or too bulky and they will follow the shape of your ears and be very comfortable. They come in black color and on the front side you will see only LED indicator and small sign “power on”. There are actually no buttons but only capacitive sensors. If you press and hold them, you will turn the buds on/off and start pairing process. You can also use it to play/pause music or even skip to the next track. Once turned on, the earbuds have to be paired with each other and after that, each of them connects separately to your device.

The earbuds come with a nice transparent charging box, which is also used as carrying case. It can be worn around your wrist, but it is not advisable, as you can drop it easily. The box protects the earbuds well and it can charge them 4 or 5 times. The sad part is that the battery can last for 2-3 hours at most, which is quite bad at this price range, but the good part is that charging process takes only 30 minutes. Besides that, the package contains user manual, spare silicone ear tips in different sizes, one USB charger with special adapter which enables you to use your phone as power source in case you need to charge the earbuds urgently. HWHP-001 are plastic, but they do feel quite durable, just like the case does. They don’t feel flimsy and they won’t fall apart easily.

Chin-Best HWHP-001 feel very light and comfortable. They weigh only 0.18 ounces per piece and if you find the best ear tips for your ears, you will be very satisfied with stability and general comfort of these earbuds. However, they aren’t stable enough to go jogging wearing them. They also deliver decent sound and they use Bluetooth 4.2 technology. The left earbud receives the signal from the device and sends it to the right earbud. The good thing is that the earbuds are well synchronized and you shouldn’t have problems with signal loss or range (33 feet). There won’t even be any significant delays when watching video content. However, if you cover the left earbud, it won’t be able to send signal to the other earbud and they will disconnect, which means the signal is strong and stable if there are no obstacles. HWHP-001 are loud enough and although the bass is not the best, the mids and highs are quite decent and we think you will be very satisfied.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Simple and attractive design

IPX5 rating (sweatproof)

Capacitive sensors instead of buttons

Light and comfortable

Quick charging

Slight delay is possible when watching videos

Not stable enough for more intense workouts

Apple Airpods Wireless Bluetooth Headset

Buy Now at Amazon.com

Here we have the original Apple Airpods. They do cost a lot for a pair of earbuds, but the moment you open the box they come in, you will realize what kind of quality they offer. They come in a simple branded cardboard box that contains user manual, lightning charging cable and charging box with the earbuds in it. The box can also be used as carrying case and it was entirely made from plastic. However, the plastic feels solid and durable and every mechanism in it is magnetic, which is really great. The earbuds will be securely snugged into the case and they won’t fall out no matter how much you shake the box.

The Airpods come only in white color and they do have that strange look because the receivers hang out from your ears and they do look a bit funny. However, they feel expensive and durable and if you didn’t have problems with regular wired Apple earbuds, Airpods will also be very comfortable. However, we must notice that it would be easier if they had some kind of tips or wings that would hold them securely in your ears.

Apple Airpods do have flaws, but they have some features that make them stand out from the bunch of the other truly wireless earbuds. Those are their special features, but you have to be aware that you can enjoy those features only if you’re using the Airpods with another Apple device. Otherwise, you can just listen to audio content on Android or other Bluetooth enabled devices. On the other hand, they are quite a delight when paired with some Apple device. Once paired with your phone, for example, all Apple devices signed in with your iCloud account will be automatically paired with your new truly wireless earbuds. Also, they have many sensors and thanks to these sensors the playback will be automatically paused if you take one of the buds out and it will continue playing when you take the earbud back. There are also many settings on your device that you can use to personalize the use, but one of the interesting things is that you can use double tap on the earbud to play/pause music or activate Siri.

As far as pairing is concerned, it couldn’t be any easier. You just open the charging box and tap it with your iPhone and they will be paired in a second. The battery in the charger is strong enough to recharge your earbuds 5 times and their battery can last for 5 hours, while it requires only 15 minutes of charging to be able to work for 3 hours. The Airpods have very good signal range.  Thanks to built-in W1 chip there will be no signal loss, the connection will be stable all the time.

When it comes to sound quality, we have to notice that wired models offer louder sound, but maybe not better. The bass is very pleasant on Airpods and the sound is very clear. Also, bear in mind that they can’t provide perfect snug, so they can’t possibly be noise isolating earbuds.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Lightweight earbuds

W1 chip enables stable signal

Good battery life

Airpods can work with non-Apple devices too

Good mic

Great special features

Too expensive

Ear tips/wings aren’t provided (Apple doesn’t make ear tips/wings)

Sound quality is not good enough for the price

Strange design

Many people have problems with earbuds falling out from ears

GoNovate G8 Bluetooth Earbud

Buy Now at Amazon.com

G8 is not the only GoNovate product, but it is one of the cheapest and best-graded models from G series of truly wireless earbuds. They offer a lot for the price, but they do have some flaws. They are sold separately, so don’t expect two earbuds to come in the package. There will be only one earbud, user manual, two spare silicone ear tips in different sizes, one zippered sturdy carrying case and two magnetic USB chargers that save you from plugging and unplugging and even enable you to left one of them at home and take the other one with you or leave it at the office or in your car.

However, you won’t need the charger so often as G8 earbud will be fully recharged in 1.5h and it will last up to 6 hours if not used at 100% volume. The important thing is they are quite loud, so you won’t have to turn the volume up to the maximum. They are loud enough to enable normal listening or talking while being aware of everything that is going on around you. The sound quality is really good for such a small earbud with so small speaker and we are sure you will be pleasantly surprised – the bass is particularly impressive. Sadly, we can’t say the same for the mic. It is not awful, but although you will hear other people clearly, your voice will sound distant and slightly muffled to them.

G8 are entirely plastic earbuds, but they feel quite durable and well built. They have angled design, they are small and they weigh approximately 0.16 ounces, so they manage to sit nicely in your ears and if you pick the right size of the ear tips, they will stay secure in your ear canal no matter what you do and you will be able to wear these for hours. The small button is multifunctional and it allows you to play/pause music, answer/end calls, power the earbud on/off and pair it with your device or even two of them at the same time. The small LED indicator will blink blue when the earbud is paired.

GoNovate G8 use Bluetooth 4.1 with 33ft signal range. As most of the customers confirm, they have very stable signal, which doesn’t often cut out. All in all, for mono earbud, G8 is great and economical purchase.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Very cheap

Compatible with most of the Bluetooth-enabled devices

Good battery life

Fast charging

Ergonomic design

Very light earbud

Quite loud

Available in 5 different colors

Sold as mono earbud

Two earbuds cannot connect to the same device at the same time

There is sound delay when watching videos

Mic is not very good

Dabs Audio S10 Bluetooth Earbud

Buy Now at Amazon.com

Dabs Audio S10 is one of the mono earbuds that is sold separately and not in pairs. The manufacturer sends you nice cardboard box with Dabs logo and main specifications and information about the product. In the box, you will find the earbud, user manual, one USB magnetic charger and three spare silicone ear tips in different sizes. The earbud has Dabs logo on the front side as well as one multifunction button and LED indicator that informs you if the earbud is on (flashing blue light), if it is pairing (flashing red and blue) or it is paired (steady blue light). The button can be used to power the earbud on and off, to pair it with your device or to answer or end calls.

S10 is very small and it weighs only 0.16 ounces. It has simple and attractive design and although it is available in black, white and golden colors, we think black is the most elegant and appropriate one. The bad thing is that the earbud has glossy finish that attracts fingerprints, but that’s not such a big issue. It also has ergonomic and slightly angled design that enables secure and nice fit. Because of that, the earbud will snug tightly in your ear canal and stay there no matter how much you move. You will be able to use it for hours without any pain or problems of any kind.

As far as the build quality is concerned, we noticed that the earbud is very durable and well-built in spite of being completely plastic. However, it is very small and if you don’t carry it in the carrying case or attached to the charger, you risk losing it. The charger is very easy to use and the battery will be fully recharged in 2 hours. It might sound a bit too much, but if you take into consideration that the earbud offers up to 7 hours of playback/talking time at 30-40% volume or up to 4.5 hours at 100% volume, charging time is not really that long.

Speaking of the volume, we must say that the earbud is quite loud. It delivers nice sound with decent amount of bass and decent clarity. The mic also works fine and if you aren’t a perfectionist, you will be satisfied with the overall quality. S10 uses Bluetooth 4.1 technology with up to 33ft signal range. The connection is quite stable and you will be able to listen to music, podcasts or make calls within the advertised range.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Simple but attractive design

Decent sound quality

Very light and comfortable earbud

Up to 7 hours of playback/talking

Glossy finish that attracts fingerprints

Long charging time

Jabra Elite Sport

Buy Now at Amazon.com

The innovator in the world of truly wireless earbuds, Jabra Elite Sports earbuds are very expensive earbuds that have many fancy features, including heart-rate monitor system and special app that personalizes your workouts and follows your progress. They offer much more than some cheaper earbuds, but they are still overpriced. At least, that’s our opinion.

These earbuds come in pairs and they look like any other truly wireless earbuds, but they are a bit bulkier than most of the earbuds on our list. However, they manage to create secure fit in your ears and they won’t fall out no matter what you do, as they were originally made to be used for working out. Apart from being comfortable, these earbuds can monitor your heart rate. The data about heart rate, about the number of the steps made and miles run, are stored in the Jabra Elite App that follows your progress and helps you to work harder and make better results.

Jabra Elite Sport earbuds come in a fancy box with many spare silicone ear tips and two pairs of silicone ear wings. They are very soft and pleasant and they will probably make the buds more stable in your ears. You will also find there one USB charging cable and one plastic carrying case that is actually earbud charger. The charger is charged via USB cable and it can fully recharge the earbuds 3 times. The recharge is fast as you get one full hour after only 15 minutes of charging. The battery of the earbuds can last up to 3 hours, which is not bad, but if you consider the price, it should really be better.

The earbuds are made from soft pleasant plastic, but they do seem very durable, just like their carrying box (charger). They are completely sweatproof, waterproof and dustproof, which means you can use them for workouts in your gym or for jogging (even when it’s raining) and you don’t have to worry that the sweat or water will damage them.

The right earbud is the main one. It is the one that receives the signal from your device and sends it to the other earbud. They somehow manage to be well-synchronized, so there will be no delays. Also, they use Bluetooth 4.1 technology with 33ft signal range. The signal is very stable and the earbuds disconnect rarely.

When it comes to sound quality, we have to say that these buds deliver very nice sound with a lot of energy and bass. Some people might not like that, but these are truly sport wire-free earbuds and that’s why the sound is energetic and bassy. The earbuds have dual mics that work nicely on both sides. They also manage to isolate great amount of ambient noise and you can use + and – on the left earbud to control the volume or skip tracks. On the right earbud, there are multifunctional button as well as the button for activating heart-beat monitoring.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Simple yet attractive design

Small and light earbuds

Dual microphone

IP67 rated (waterproof, sweatproof and dustproof)

Secure fit

Built-in heart rate monitor

Stable connection

The earbuds turn on when taken out and turn off when put back in the charging box

Very expensive

Poor battery life considering the price

A bit bulky in comparison to the previously reviewed models

They aren’t magnetic and they can fall out from the case easily

Losei Dual Wireless Earbuds True Mini Twins Stereo Bluetooth Headset

Buy Now at Amazon.com

Losei TWS-K2 are affordable truly wireless earbuds with satisfying overall sound, build and performance quality. They come in nice cardboard box with charger, USB charging cable, user manual and spare ear tips in different sizes as well as ear hooks for more secure fit. The earbuds have very appealing design, they are available in black, red, silver and white, they aren’t bulky and they won’t even be so noticeable in your ear, especially if you don’t use ear hooks. There are no volume controls on the earbuds themselves, but you have built-in mic, LED indicator and one multifunction button used for powering on/off, pairing, activating Siri, playing/pausing songs and answering/ending calls.

The charging box is magnetic, but it doesn’t have any cover, so we wouldn’t recommend using it as carrying case. It is made from plastic, as well as the earbuds, but they seem really sturdy and durable. The charger has 450 mAh battery that can charge the earbuds 3-4 times. Recharging takes 1-2 hours and their battery offers up to 3 hours of playback/talking time. The earbuds use Bluetooth 4.1 technology, signal range is up to 33ft, but it is strong and the buds don’t get disconnected easily.

As far as comfort is concerned, we weren’t satisfied. This is subjective feeling, but these earbuds have more problems fitting user’s ear than the others on the list. The hooks and finding the most suitable tips can help a lot, but you still don’t get the feeling of perfectly secure fit and we can’t recommend these for working out.

On the other hand, sound quality is very pleasing, all the way from the bass to the highs. It is not perfect, but it is very satisfying for the price and the mic works nicely as well. As one of the earbuds is the main one, it is also the one that picks your voice, so you should be aware that, if you use them in pair, the mic will work on only one earbud. The good thing is that you can also use them separately in case you want to be aware of your surroundings.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Small and lightweight

Attractive and elegant design

A2DP and AVRCP technologies reduce the likelihood of signal dropouts

The charger is magnetic

Widely compatible with Bluetooth-enabled devices

Good mic (works on one earbud only)

The charger can’t be used as carrying case

Poor battery life

Not really clear sound

The earbuds don’t offer tight and secure fit

Apollo 7 by Erato Audio – True Wireless Stereo Bluetooth Earphones

Buy Now at Amazon.com

No, they are not bullets, they are truly wireless earbuds! They come in black, rose, golden and white colors and they look rather interesting and attractive. They are quite small, but they don’t have ergonomic design, which might cause them to stand out a bit from your ears. However, it is nothing alarming. There is one small button on each earbud and those buttons have different functions. The button on the left earbud is used for turning on/off and pairing. Double click on the right side will activate Siri or Google Assistant. You can click once to answer/end calls, play or pause music. Double click on the left side turns the volume down, double click on the right side turns the volume up, while long press skips between tracks. The earbuds have to pair with each other and then one of them is paired and connected to your device.

S7 come in a simple box that contains quality accessories. The earbuds are plastic, but most of the charger is made from aluminum, which means the earbuds are well protected from bumps and falls when they are in the charger. You just push the charger on one side and it will open. When you put the earbuds in there, make sure they snap in nicely and close the box. After that, the charging can begin. On the other side of the charger, you will find LED indicators for charging status and one micro USB port. The package also contains thick charging cable as well as user manual and numerous spare ear tips (silicone and foam) and ear wings. The ear wings can improve stability, but you might not even need them, as the earbuds sit in your ear canal nicely.

When it comes to sound quality, Apollo S7 have aptX sound and they work best with Bluetooth-enabled devices that support that kind of sound. If you have such a device, you will be able to experience really great and powerful sound. It will be bassy, crisp and clear, but the mids still tend to stay a bit muffled. They use Bluetooth 4.1, signal range is quite good, but the signal can occasionally drop in and out. However, this doesn’t happen so often and we think you won’t be disappointed or annoyed. The mic is also very good and it can pick up sound from different directions. The ear tips, especially foam ones, seal ear canals very well and block great amount of ambient noise.

Advantages and Disadvantages

Interesting design

IPX5 rating – sweat resistant

Aluminum charging case

  Very durable

Poor battery life for the price (3 hours maximum)

Possible audio delay while watching videos

What Are the Downsides of Truly Wireless Earbuds You Should Be Aware?

Every product has its own flaws and downsides and it is up to the buyer to decide which flaws he can neglect and which he can’t. Truly wireless earbuds also have flaws, maybe even more than the other headphones, but that could be expected as they are still relatively new concept. Here are some of the main problems you can expect to encounter if you get a pair of these.

Control buttons may be complicated to use.

Wire-free earbuds are very small and there is no much space to put all the controls and make them easily accessible. There are usually volume controls, power on/off button and built-in mic on the surface and the buttons have to be very small. They are also often located on only one of the buds, which makes things worse, especially if you have thick fingers.

When you get used to them, it becomes easier, but you should be prepared for problems like unintentionally disconnecting them or turning the volume up or down while trying to readjust their position.

The earbuds still don’t have great battery life.

Some of these earbuds have batteries that can last for more than 10 or 15 hours, but the majority still can’t reach the battery life of regular Bluetooth earbuds/headphones. Truly wireless earbuds offer up to 5 or 7 hours of playback/talk on average, while the Bluetooth earbuds manage to offer more than 10 hours.

Their size can cause problems.

These earbuds are meant to be small in order to cause fewer problems with weight, pressure and cables/headbands/neckbands. However, they can cause some other problems that you should be aware of.

For example, the buds are too small to leave around as they could be easily lost or small kids could swallow them. Also, try not to wear them in pockets or bags without their carrying cases, as they could fall out and you won’t even notice that.

One more thing – try to check them out every now and then while wearing them, as they are very light and they can fall out from your ears and you might not realize that, especially if you are in a noisy place.

The sound can be delayed.

Truly wireless earbuds are connected to each other via Bluetooth and the same signal is split in order to connect the buds to the Bluetooth-enabled device (phone/player/TV, etc.). The Bluetooth-enabled device transmits the signal that goes to the main earbud, and then the main earbud sends the signal to the other one. That kind of transmission may cause sound delay (there is possibility that the earbuds may not be synched). Even if the earbuds are synched with each other, there could be some delay when you are watching some video on your device or if you are trying to watch a TV. Human ear can’t always notice this delay, but sometimes it can be quite annoying, especially if the sound is one or even half a second delayed from the video you are watching.

Pay Attention to These Things and We Guarantee You Safe Purchase

Many people don’t have a plan when they are searching for their new headphones (or any other product). If you want to get the best product, you have to make a plan and do some kind of research.

When you’re buying new products, you should learn some basic information about them. That way you will know what you need, what to look for, and you will be able to choose the best option for yourself.

We have prepared some advice in order to make it easier for you and we guarantee successful purchase if you follow these instructions.

Price

Defining budget is one of the most important things. You should do it at the very beginning and save yourself much time. When you know how much money you want or can spend on a pair of earbuds, you will choose between fewer models and find the right one faster.

Purpose

Defining purpose of your new earbuds will also make your search much easier and shorter. For example, if you’re looking for earbuds for working out, you should look for something that has sporty design and secure fit, so that the buds can stay secure in your ears while you run or move around your gym. On the other hand, if you’re looking for earbuds for commuting, you should pay attention to the noise cancellation if you don’t want to be distracted and annoyed by other people.

Fit/Comfort

There is no rule that can help you find the most fitting earbuds. Comfort is individual feeling and when some review says that some earbuds are comfortable, that means that most of the customers have positive experience or that those earbuds were comfortable for that specific reviewer. That doesn’t have to mean that you will feel the same way.

Fit/comfort depends on the design of the earbuds, the materials their ear tips were made of, as well as the size of your ears. That’s why the manufacturers often send us several pairs of ear tips in different sizes in order to make the buds more comfortable. Some of them also have ear wings and ear hooks included in the package and those can definitely help a lot and make better fit.

In case you have a chance, try out different models in some store and try to realize which model fits your ears best.

Sound quality

The whole point of having earbuds or any kind of headphones is to enjoy the sound that they deliver. Not all earbuds can complete the task perfectly, but you should definitely look for at least decently sounding earbuds. You don’t want to listen to completely distorted sound.

The sound quality depends a lot on the price range and it can never be as good as the sound of wired earbuds/headphones, but there are some very good products with satisfying sound quality at affordable price.

Build quality

Build quality also depends on the price and most of these earbuds are completely plastic as they are supposed to be very light and plastic is lighter than metal. However, plastic can also be very durable and if your earbuds are plastic, it doesn’t have to mean they are going to fall apart after a few days.

Read reviews from other customers and see their experience with the specific pair of earbuds you want to buy and always bear in mind that durability of any product depends a lot on the way you use it. If you expose your devices to severe usage, it is normal for them to have shorter life. Also, if the earbuds aren’t sweatproof or waterproof, then you can’t use them for working out or in the rain, as contact with sweat and water makes them fall apart really fast.

Features

When it comes to features, you should pay attention to the presence of built-in mic and the controls on the earbuds. A decent pair of earbuds should have mic and nicely distributed control buttons for easy access. They should also have decent noise cancellation, as this kind of earbuds is not made for home usage primarily. Since you are going to use them outdoors most of the time, you have to be able to protect yourself from background noise at least partially.

Type of connection

Wire-free earbuds are connected to each other and to your device via Bluetooth. That means that the regular signal is split more than usual and that you should find the earbuds with the best Bluetooth version with the strongest signal and the best signal range. Also, pay attention to battery life. It is not the most important thing, but you should try to get the best possible option for the price you pay.

To conclude, truly wireless earbuds have flaws, but they will definitely be improved and become very important in our lives. They have some downsides, but you can also benefit from them a lot. All in all, they are very useful and if you hate cables, you should definitely try them. Our list contains 15 excellent models of truly wireless earbuds in 2018 and if you look closely, we are sure you will find something interesting that fits your budget and your needs.
